Wednesday matchday preview - 2

Winter League Preview of Wednesdays fixtures in Divisions 4 & 5

Division 4 Preview

Rastrick need a minimum of four points from their final match of the season to clinch the second promotion place up to Division 3 for next season. That last day fixture is against already relegated Dalton who they played last Monday and a repeat of that 4-4 draw will just get them over the line. Primrose Hill Lib and Netherton Con A are locked together on 54 points and both poised to take advantange of any last day nerves from Rastrick. The two hopefuls meet each other and a big win for either would mount the pressure on Ratrick.

Slaithwaite can relax with the Division 3 title already won and their Wednesday opponent Linthwaite Hall A can also enjoy the day as their status is assured for next season. With Dalton already relegated all that remains is to determine the second relegation place currently occupied by Thorpe Green B. They are two points behind Milnsbridge B who they meet in their final fixture of the season. It is simple - the loser of this match is relegated.

The Top Bowler award has also been won by Slaithwaite team member Anthony Cross has won 11 of his 13 matches this season and is 2 wins ahead of his nearest opponent and cannot be caught. Anthony wins the Tony Booth Cup which will be presented to him at the Divisions 1 to 4 Presentation Event to be held at Linldey Liberal Club on Friday 11 April.

Division 5 Preview

Lindley Lib C have already had the Arthur Tracey Cup presented to them for winning the Division 5 title and Jackson Bridge need at least a draw in their final match to join them in Division 4 next season. That wont be easy as their opponents are their nearest rivals for that second promotion place, Elland WMC. A 6-2 win for the Elland side would see the teams level on points and with a current 88 to 82 advantage in the 'Aggregate Difference' for Elland things are really tight. Matters at the foot of the table are all resolved with Springwood B and Almondbury BC A both dropping through the relegation trapdoor.

Lindley Lib C also dominated the Top Bowler places taking the top four positions with Bob Booth the outright leader and cannot be overtaken so will receive the Treasurer's Trophy in recognition of that achievement.
