A reduced league fixture programme this week as teams in Divisions 3, 4 and 5 are involved in the Sub-Team KO competition.
In Division 1 the two promoted teams meet up. Last year they each beat each other on their own green so if that continues then Kirkheaton Cons 'A' could end up with the points advantage over Lindley BC 'B'. Marsh United have had a great start to the season and will hope to preserve their unbeaten record when Golcar Lib 'A' visit them this Tuesday.
Elland C&BC 'A' and Lockwood Con 'A' will both be hoping to get their form back on track after a faltering start to the season which has seen them both in the lower reaches of the table which is foreign territory to both. Lockwood Con have home advantage over Lindley Lib 'A' whilst Elland have to travel (although not far) to play at Rastrick.
Cowcliffe will be aiming to put their Team KO form behind them when facing Waterloo this week and they will need to improve on last week's performance against a team definitely on the upward path. Two points and three places separate Meltham, in bottom place, and Clayton West with plenty to play for. Three points separate the bottom six teams so one bad result can see a team plummeting downwards very quickly.
Five points separate the top eight teams in Division 2 and all have played the same number of matches. Only two of those top six teams play each other when leaders Milnsbridge 'A' entertain fourth-placed Broad Oak 'A' which presents a great opportunity for the leaders as the teams in 2nd and 3rd positions, Shepley and Hemplow 'A', both have away matches this week. They are both visiting teams that have underperformed so far this season with Hemplow taking their unbeaten record to Thorpe Green. Last year Thorpe Green were very much among the frontrunners all season with their home record of 11 wins from 13 matches a key factor in that so will be disappointed to languish in the bottom three at this early stage and will be looking to turn their season around.
Thongsbridge 'A' came down from Division 1 but their second half of the season form suggested that they would be doing what they usually do this season and that was vying for an immediate return to the top flight. Shepley will be looking to get something from their visit this week and the formbook suggests that they could be looking to build on their good start to the season.
Lowerhouses could be mounting a challenge to move into contention for the promotion places and a visit to Netherton Con 'A' this week gives them a perfect platform to move away from the pack and join the leading contenders. It all depends which of their teams turn up on the day. If it is the side that inflicted an opening day home defeat on much-fancied Slaithwaite then they will have every chance of returning with the points but if it is the team that lost at bottom of the table Brockholes 'A' then it will be a very different outcome.
Bradley & Colne appear to finally have got their away form sorted out after failing to win once away from home in 2021 they have started this season with two big wins on the road. However that shift has been at the expense of their home form where they have lost both their home matches to date. A real chance to remedy that presents itself this Monday when they welcome New Mill 'A' to their green. With only one point from their two away matches they seem to be a different proposition to the outfit that finished in third place last season.
The malaise that hangs over the Lockwood Con teams has impacted on the 'B' side who are the only Division 2 side still looking for their first win of the season and they are unlikely to get any relief from that when they play Almondbury BC 'A' who have won both their home matches to date. Brockholes 'A' may be in a bit of a false position as their four matches this season have all been against top-five opponents. That changes this Tuesday when Slaithwaite are the visitors although they may be moving on from a slow start to the campaign and have won their last two matches so will be a good test for the home side.
