Veterans League

The Huddersfield Veterans League are believed to be on the lookout for a new League Secretary and a new Competition Secretary with the current holder of both those posts, Paul English, understood to be stepping down.
Paul has held the position of Competition Secretary since February 2024 and took over the League Secretary role following the passing of David Sykes. It is understood that Paul made the Veterans League Officials and Management Committee aware of his intentions in May this year but as yet no official announcement has been made by the Huddersfield Veterans League that the roles will become vacant or any attempt made to recruit a replacement.
Historically, the Veterans League has made it known that if the post of Competition Secretary is not filled then no competitions will be run that season. These are two very important positions within the Veterans League and it is unclear what steps, if any, are being taken to fill them to avoid a meltdown of activity for next season.
I understand that Paul has advised the Management Committee that he is willing, and is indeed continuing, to hold both positions until the AGM in February 2027.
