Top 40 Winter League Bowlers

Updated: Dec 13, 2020

Winter League

Bowlsnet is excellent at most things but it cannot merge two sets of tables to produce one over-arching table of the top bowlers in our league. That requires a bit of manual effort involving Excel to produce the latest position in the quest for the Top Bowler Trophy to go to the end of season winner. We show the top 40 bowlers and just to remind you that the criteria for determining the running order is

  1. Most Games Won

  2. Best 'Aggregate For' Total

  3. Biggest 'Aggregate Difference'

The table below is as at today covering all matches up to and including Thursday 10 December.

Also under the old system it wasn't unknown for bowlers once they had reached the minimum number of qualifying games with a good average to suddenly become unavailable for their team. Hence they could protect that good average for the rest of the season.

I don't think there is a default system to adopt which would carry everyone's support and indeed I have been a supporter and instigator of the old system solely based on averages but I am changing. At least a system based primarily on Games Won rewards the bowler who plays regularly for his team whereas the averages system could reward those who stopped bowling at a convenient time.

Good news ! Jeff, this is my final comment on averages .

Looking at the list it still doesn’t seem right to me that number 15 Gary senior with an average of 12.75 and number 26 david frost , average 14.33, are so low down the averages having won all their games very convincingly. Under the old system they would have been 2nd and 1st respectively.
