Veterans League
The Team KO is for teams that finished the previous season in the top 32 positions in the league structure. The Sub-Team KO is for teams that don't qualify for the Team KO and that means it is for most teams in Divisions 3, 4 and 5.
The two opening rounds of this competition are being played on Tuesdays this season with the full draw below for the first round which is scheduled for this Tuesday (3 May). Elland C&BC 'B' have withdrawn from the competition leaving David Brown Sports with a bye into the next round and 29 teams in contention.
Huddersfield Recreation Club are defending their hold on this trophy which also matched their promotion to Division 3 as the Division 4 Champions last season. They will look to continue that form and progress through an opening round tie against Greenhead Park.
If you are looking for potential giant-killing opportunities then a couple of matches catch the eye. Kirkheaton Con 'B' have started their Division 5 campaign strongly and currently sit in 2nd place and they play Springwood who have just one Division 3 victory on their record to date and have a 15-point handicap gap to overcome as well. Another 15-point handicap gap means that Lindley Lib 'B' will need to improve on results from their Division 3 start to the season when taking on Marsh Lib who have won all three of their Division 5 fixtures to date.
Division 5 leaders Broad Oak 'B' may also fancy their chances against New Mill 'B' although the Millers have started their Division 4 season brightly and currently sit in second place. It will be a good test for both teams.
The format for these matches is, as always, the same as for League matches - 4 Singles and 3 Pairs although the scoring system differs with Aggregate scores determining the winners and only in the event of a tie does the game count come into play. All matches are on neutral greens and all have the usual 1.30pm start time. Enjoy your bowling gentlemen.
