Slaithwaite defend Julie Fuller Trophy title

Veterans League

Preview of the 6-Man League Julie Fuller matches scheduled for Monday 9 May

There are no 6-man league matches this week as the opening round of the 2022 Julie Fuller Trophy competition will be held on Monday with 31 teams involved with the Meltham team withdrawing to provide a bye for Shepley 'B'. There are two all-Division 1 clashes as the two teams that came up from Division 2 this year meet up and as they are currently 2nd and 3rd in the table and last year got promoted on level points this is bound to be another close affair. Being on a neutral green as well evens things up and the team that masters the green the best is likely to run out the winners such is the tightness of this tie although last season Golcar C&BC did win both league matches involving the two teams.

The second all-Division 1 match sees Lockwood Con playing Crosland Moor at Holmfirth BC. Again things are very tight between the two teams who are level on 19 points in the latest league table. Plenty of potential upsets also on the cards as the 3 Pairs format coupled with the handicapping system and matches determined by the aggregate scores all add up to a new scenario to test all teams.

Slaithwaite begin the defence of their title with a repeat of the 2021 semi-final when they eliminated Longwood by 81-37 who will be looking to put that defeat behind them when the teams meet at Hemplow.

Wherever you are bowling enjoy the competition gentlemen.
