Shocks likely in Julie Fuller Trophy

Veterans League A preview of the 6-Man League Julie Fuller Trophy matches to be played on Monday 30 May

After Monday we will know the eight quarter-finalists for the 2022 Julie Fuller Trophy with the matches below scheduled for this week. The competition format is alien to some bowlers with three pairs in action with the aggregate score determining the winner then with game score used in the event of a drawn aggregate.

There is only one all-Division 1 match lined up for this week and that features the teams at the top and bottom of that division. Leaders Shepley 'A' will expect to overcome the 4-point handicap difference and progress to the quarter-finals over Linthwaite Hall.

The reigning Julie Fuller Champions are Slaithwaite who currently head the Division 2 table and have an 8-point handicap advantage over Division 1 strugglers Lindley Lib 'A' who they meet on the Meltham No.2 green.

If you are looking for a potential giant-killing act then there are a couple of fixtures that look ready for a surprise outcome. Division 3 leaders Almondbury Lib have a 12-point start on Milnsbridge who haven't won away from their home green this season. Then there are Division 3 high-fliers Marsh Lib who again have a 12-point handicap start over scratch side Brockholes 'A' who have still to hit top form this season.
