Preview of the Division 1 fixtures scheduled for Wedneaday 22 December

When you have gone three matches without a win you really don't want to have Lower Hopton as your next opponents and retain any realistic hope of halting that sequence. That is the situation with the all-ladies New Millers team after a run of two draws and one loss in their last three matches. When they last met the leaders in October they were not best suited by a wet and heavy green and failed to trouble the Lower Hopton bowlers and they are keen to address that failing. However this dip in form has seen them drop from being prime contenders for the runners-up spot and currently they sit sixth some seven points off second place but with a game in hand. Lower Hopton plough on regardless and this week are looking to take their winning run into double figures and you would get long odds against them not doing that.

Two teams locked together on 48 points and sharing second place meet up this week as a resurgent Clayton West meet Kirkheaton Con. Two wins in a day last Wednesday has reignited the West's challenge for honours after an indifferent first half of the season. Only the leaders have won more matches than Kirkheaton Con and they will be keen to clock up their first double of the season this week.

With Lindley BC 'A' sat just a point between these two combatants they could edge past them both with a big win however they take on Milnsbridge 'A' who ended a run of 7 matches without a win last week with a whitewash victory over Rastrick 'A' so come into the fixture in good heart. However they are level on points with Lowerhouses 'A' who will be keen to avenge an early season defeat by Thorpe Green 'A' when they meet again this Wednesday.

It is the last round of fixtures before the Christmas week break and it all starts at 12noon at Milnsbridge BC when no doubt the mince pies and other Christmas delicacies will be available along with some good bowling to savour to put us all in the festive mood.
