The 2025 Julie Fuller Trophy winners, Broad Oak A, were eliminated from this year's competition when beaten 59-69 by Hemplow A at Brockholes on Monday. It was a good day for the Hemplow club as their B team also won in the closest tie of the day when beating Netherton Con A 58-57 to progress through to the Round of the Last 16. That was a great outcome for the Division 4 team eliminating a Division 1 team in a giant-killing act so revered in this competition.
Thongsbridge A, last year's beaten finalists, also moved through the second qualifying session successfully, overtaking the 10-point handicap catch-up difference of Division 4 team Netherton Con B to win 66-46. Three of the four Brockholes teams got through to the Round of the Last 16 with only their D team failing to progress. The most noteworthy acheivement of the three teams being the 69-56 win for the Division 3 C team over Division 2 strugglers Longwood.
Scratch handicap Division 1 team Skel Windmill A were muscled out of the competition by a strong Lockwood Con team 58-39. The other two scratch teams, Marsh United A and Clayton West A, had comfortable passages past Greenhead Park B and Marsh United B respectively.
