20 entries in Over-70's Pairs KO

Veterans League

There are 20 pairs entered in the Over-70's Pairs KO with the qualifying competition taking place at Kirkheaton C&BC on Thursday 30 April from 1.30pm. The draw will be made on the day so entrants are asked to be there well before the start time to enable the formalities to be completed for a prompt start.

Brockholes bowler David Hallas suggested the format of this competition in 2019 and has sponsored it each year since on condition that the Finals Day is staged at Brockholes. I recall that David bought every bowler a pint of beer as a welcome to the competition in 2019. It was to be another 3 years before the second staging of the competition went ahead after the Covid pandemic had been overcome.

The defending Champions of Les Holmes and Graham Hirst of Lowerhouses are among the starters. A second previous winning pair of this competition are also entered with the Netherton Con pairing of Dennis Garner and Paul Winterburn also in the frame.
