New Mill dominate top spots

Winter League

A preview of the Divison 5 & 6 fixtures scheduled for Thursday 2 November

At the time of writing this posting New Mill have three teams in the Winter League and all currently top their respective Division tables. Divisions 1, 4 and 6 all have New Mill teams leading the way but will that be the case come the end of the week's adding up?

The Met Office has released a Yellow Warning of Rain for West Yorkshire from 0600hrs on Thursday to 0600hours on Friday. This is related to Storm Ciarán which could bring disruption to parts of North East England and South East Scotland.

Divisions 5 and 6 only have two 100% win records between the 16 teams and both of those are in Division 5. Brockholes B lead the way with two wins from two matches and this week they take that record to be examined by Springwood C at Netherton Cons. Slaithwaite are the other 100% winning team but they have only played one match but take on Jackson Bridge who sit at the foot of the table but have plenty of experience at a higher level than they are currently playing at.

Outlane take their unbeaten record to play against the home team of Netherton Con B with hopes of closing the gap on the leaders. Mirfield A are beginning to come to terms with winter bowling having clocked up their first win last week and will be looking to build on that when facing Huddersfield Recreation Club this Thursday.

It is highly unlikely that New Mill C will survive as the Division 6 pace-setters after the week's matches as they don't have a match and will have to wait and see how many teams pass them. It could be as many as 5 teams that pass them if the results go the right way. However, their cause will be helped by the 2nd v 3rd confrontation as Cowcliffe B take on Huddersfield RUFC.

The biggest threat may come from 4th placed Linthwaite Hall who remain unbeaten and meet a Mirfield B side looking for their first win of the season. Lockwood Con B also have the leaders within their range and a big win over Broad Oak would see them overtake the leaders. Kirkheaton Con B are also looking for a first win and will fancy their chances when they take on Golcar C&BC although they in turn are still revelling in their first win of the season last week.
