New 9th host green for Winter League

Winter League

The Huddersfield Winter League will have 9 new teams and a new Division 9 hosted at Paddock I&C for the new season. The League has been looking to add a new host green to accommodate the insatiable annual demand from teams to join in winter bowling.

Discussions between the League and the Paddock club have been going on for a couple of weeks but with all matters now fully finalised we are pleased to announce that Paddock I&C will be added to the list of eight other host green clubs benefiting from the additional income they can expect to earn over a 14-week season. Clubs expect to make between £2,500-£4,000 from the weekly gathering of eight teams. The amount varies depending on how much work they put into running a raffle and providing a range of hot drinks and edibles to tempt the bowlers and spectators. In addition clubs will increase that income through bar sales as experienced at other host greens with draught beers available.

More details about the new arrangement will be provided to Winter League teams at the Annual General Meeting scheduled for Friday 1 August including the day of the week they will be operating on and the season start date. We are really pleased that the unique green at Paddock will become part of the weekly cycle of bowling activity right through the winter months.

With ample free on-street parking, lots of seating around the green with good cover facilities for spells of poor weather and the experience gained over the last 5 years of Winter League bowling, the League is sure that the future is good for Paddock I&C. Bring it on!

With Dalton withdrawing from the League a replacement team has come forward to make up the numbers. Marsh Lib B are the latest team to step up and they will join the League for the 2025-26 season starting in October. That makes it nine new teams joining the League for the new season. The full make up of the Divisions will be finalised and shared with all the teams at the Annual General Meeting on 1 August.
