It is right to look back on the history of the Blackpool Waterloo in the year that the closure of the icon home of crown green bowling eventually became a reality. This piece from the Bowlers World magazine for November 1988 looks at proposed changes following the installation of a new Bowls Manager and his plans to update the Waterloo experience. One thing he was keen on was getting rid of some of the antiquarian rules that were unique to the Waterloo including the practice of deciding an end by the cutting of a straw. A move to adopt the BCGBA rulebook was imminent as this article explains.
