New leaders for Divisions 4 & 5

Veterans League

Review of Divisions 3, 4 & 5 matches played on Tuesday 23 April

The first 9-0 whitewash scoreline of the Division 3 season goes to Denby Dale and keeps them clear at the top of the latest table. The day started with 5 teams protecting unbeaten records but only two of those records survived a day of good results for the home teams.

The two teams to benefit from Tuesday's fixtures were Denby Dale and Brockholes A who both won and saw three of their closest rivals lose their 100% starts to the season. Lindley Lib B (1-8 at Elland WMC), Skel Windmill (1-8) at Paddock I&C and Springwood (2-7 at Outlane). That win for Outlane was their first of the season and Slaithwaite also broke their duck when beating Hemplow A 5-4 with a 119-118 aggregate total proving decisive in claiming the bulk of the points.

In Division 4 Brockholes B started the day top of the table but finished it in the bottom half of the table in 7th position. A 7-2 home defeat by Lockwood Con B being the reason for that massive drop along with a series of five home winners on the day.

Milnsbridge B replaced the Brockholes team in top spot after a 7-2 away victory over Huddersfield Recreation Club pushed them two points clear of Kirkheaton C&BC A who beat the Rugby Club 6-3. Home wins for Marsh United B (7-2 v Marsh Lib) and Ravensknowle Park (6-3 v Meltham B) pushed them up to 3rd and 4th respectively. Lindley BC B went down 1-8 to Thongsbridge B to stay bottom.

Division 5 leaders, David Brown Sports, suffered a surprising first defeat of the season going down 3-6 at Primrose Hill Lib who stay bottom despite that win. The former table toppers were overtaken by Netherton Con B who won 6- 3 away at Dalton. The new leaders being one of only two teams with 100% winning records the other being New Mill B but they languish in 4th place despite a 5-4 away win at Broad Oak B.

Hemplow B collected a 6-3 home win over Kirkheaton Con B to move into 3rd place which is new territory for them. A 4th place finish in 2019 being their highest-ever position previously. A pair of 6-3 home wins for Holmfirth B (over Kirkheaton C&BC B) and Almondbury BC B (over Greenhead Park) completed another busy day of Veterans League bowling.
