Match Day Review: No change at the top

Winter League

After the resumption of bowling after Lockdown2 was lifted we report on our League leaders in both divisions stretching their points advantage even further this week. In the Milnsbridge Division the host club's 'A' side beat Meltham 5-1 to hold on to top spot with Lowerhouses 'A' drawing level on points with the leaders after a 6-0 win over Dalton. The leading two have now opened up a nine-point gap over the chasing pack and their current form suggests that the title is going to be contested between these two teams. They play each other next Thursday.

The other Milnsbridge Division match was a much closer affair with Lindley BC beating Thorpe Green 4-2 to draw level on points with them. Clayton West continued on their way at the top of the Springfield Division with their fourth straight win when beating Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' 5-1 to stretch their lead to 5 points. Rastrick retain second place despite not playing this week with Denby Dale and Kirkheaton Con taking closing order after two good wins. Denby Dale beat Springwood 4-2 in the closest scoreline of the day and Kirkheaton Con overcame bottom-of-the-table Lowerhouses 'B' 5-1.

It was noticeable that the playing time was much reduced at both greens this week. A 2:30pm finish at Milnsbridge and shortly after that at 2:40pm at Springwood meaning the earliest finishes at both greens this season. Could it have something to do with the colder weather or was that just a coincidence?
