A review of the Division 1 matches played on Wednesday 27 October

Another week another 8-0 whitewash win for Lower Hopton as they continue to set a hot pace at the top of Division 1 with a third consecutive maximum points match. Rastrick 'A' being on the receiving end of that scoreline this week and that left them as the only team in the division still looking for their first win of the season. Kirkheaton Con moved into second place by beating Thorpe Green 'A' 6-2 and overtaking them in the table as a result. A first defeat of the season for the Con's 'Crafty' Cooper knocked him off the top of the averages table with the top four places all now taken by Lower Hopton bowlers.

The two teams already mauled by the leaders this season met this week with New Millers running out 6-2 winners although it could easily have been a very different story. Lowerhouses won the pairs match 21-5 and were then 11-3 up in the first singles game when things started to go wrong, or rather New Millers started to do things right. From a position of being 24 points behind to going on to win both singles games and in the process collecting the aggregate 47-45 to run out 6-2 winners. That pushed them above their opponents in the table and left Lowerhouses feeling robbed and in the relegation zone.

Clayton West won the other match overcoming Milnsbridge 'A' 6-2 and only dropping one point in a 62-45 aggregate win to overhaul their opponents in the table and move into fourth place. West bowler David 'Mojo' Monaghan-Jones claimed his third consecutive win and became the nearest threat to the Lower Hopton dominance of the averages race.
