Review of results for matches played 28 June - 2 July Preview of matches to be played 5-9 July
Two unbeaten Division 1 records went head-to-head this week but it was soon clear that it was reigning Champions Atkinsons Butchers that was going to come out on top and they duly registered a 165-85 aggregate win by coming out on top in 7 of the 8 games. At the foot of the table the match against Strait Kutz Hairdressers presented PEG Perego with their best chance of claiming their first win of the season but it was not to be as the hairdressers streaked away with a 130-117 win to move closer to the mid-table duo who were also in confrontation. A 150-120 win for Bolster Farm Shop allowed them to leapfrog their opponents, Huddersfield Recreation Club, although there are only 11 points between them.
In Division 2 we had the closest scoreline of the week when Colne Valley Garden Centre were celebrating their first win of the season when overcoming Brook Hansen 'B' by 139-134. The top of the table clash between Holmes Dresser and D Haigh & Co was postponed so allowing Paul's Kitchens to go clear at the top of the table after beating personaliseHR by 154-91 although they have now played a game more they overtake D Haigh & Co and claim topspot.
Preview of matches to be played 5-9 July
It is the halfway point of the league season with all the Division 1 teams having played 6 of their 12 fixtures. Atkinsons Butchers look comfortably ahead and lead the chase to retain their title with a lead of 146 points and the honour is seemingly theirs to lose. They recorded three 168 whitewash scorelines in the first half of the season, one of those was against PEG Perego who they play again this coming week and will be disappointed if they don't match that again. Alicia Dawn Photography will be keen to re-establish themselves as the major threat to the Champions and will look to start that process with a home fixture against the Huddersfield Recreation Club on Friday. Brook Hansen 'A' will be keen to challenge that position as they are only 32 points behind the Photographers but will be wary of this week's opponents, Strat Kutz Hairdressers, after only beating them by one point when they met in the opening match of the season and now have to travel to their Linthwaite Hall green where only the Champions have left with the majority of the points this season to date..
There are a couple of postponed fixtures to fit into the Division 2 programme and one of those is scheduled for Monday when Pearce Displays entertain Brook Hansen 'B' with both teams keen to build on their win totals which both sit at one currently. There is considerable interest at the top of the table with three prime contenders for the top spot. Paul's Kitchens currently head proceedings although they have played a game more than the other two rivals, D Haigh & Co and the unbeaten Holmes Dresser. They all avoid each other this week with seemingly straight-forward games for Paul's Kitchens who are away at Colne Valley Garden Centre and D Haigh & Co visiting personaliseHR whilst Holmes Dresser have home advantage over Pearce Displays who will be on the green for the second time this week.
