Julie Fuller Trophy match conceded

Veterans League

The unusual outcome of a Knock-Out match being conceded halfway through proceedings occurred on Friday in the Julie Fuller Trophy. This competition is based on three pairs games. With two Semi-Final games completed and Thongsbridge A holding a 42-18 aggregate lead over Shepley A which meant that the result of the third game could not affect the outcome of the result, the match was conceded.

In the other Semi-final there was a surprise result as the Division 1 leaders, Clayton West, were beaten by Division 2 high-flyers, Broad Oak, by 63-60 with the 4 points handicap difference having an important part to play in that outcome. Well done to the Broad Oak team in reaching the final of the League's only team competition in their first season in the League.

The two winning teams meet in the Final at Golcar Lib on Thursday 24 July. Neither of the two finalists has won this competition before so there will be a new name on the shield this year.
