Winter Cup
The draw for the Round of the Last 24 in the Winter Cup was made at the Management Committee meeting on Thursday. The full draw is below but the highlights are:
Eight bowlers have opening round byes, four of those being Scratch bowlers
There are 6 scratch players left in the competition and only 2 of these are in the bottom half of the draw enhancing the chances of Andy Balmforth and Adrian Cooper
There is only one definite inter-team game which is also an inter-family clash as the Marsh United duo of husband and wife Steve and Julie Mallinson face each other. They were the first two names out of the hat and both get byes through to the Round of the Last 16.
All 24 qualifiers will get at least one match on Wednesday 10 April and they will play down to the last 8 who will all progress through to Finals Day which is on Sunday 14 April again starting at 1.00pm. All bowlers are asked to register at least 15 minutes before the start time on both days.
With the first two winners of the title, Steve Haigh and Ian Briggs, both already eliminated we are looking for a new Champion of this impesssive trophy.
Handicaps are based on the qualifying competition bowlers progressed through whilst all County and Inter-District bowlers play off scratch regardless of which division they play in.
