Building on the list that Yorkshire CCGBA include in their Yearbook to get the help of a number of local clubs and individuals, duly noted below in red, in adding the opening dates of these clubs to create the most complete record there is around.

Take a look at the impressive list below. The three oldest greens in the area are Dalton (1878), Primrose Hill Liberal (1882) and Elland C&BC No.1 green (1883).

All Our Yesterdays. The Rastrick Bowling Green Company Ltd. was formed in 1902 with shares being sold at £1 each. The total cost of the land, labour, bricks and mortar was less than £400.

On 27th June 1902 the opening ceremony took place with Mr Carter hoisting the club flag,- red, white and blue with a Union Jack In one corner and bearing the initials RBC. The National Anthem was then sung with great gusto by the assembled crowd

In 1903 the No. 2 green was opened and the club purchased 12 ducks to keep the grass down and a donkey (£3) whose function might only be guessed at.
