What do the Bowlsnet orange boxes mean?

Winter League

I get asked lots of questions by team captains and one of the most common ones is 'What do the orange boxes on Bowlsnet mean'? These orange boxes only appear on the Fixture/Results page of the system as shown below. Well it is quiet simple as the orange boxes signify that the team name alongside that coloured box has still to Verify the match result.

This means that the other team has input the match result which has been accepted by the system and match, tables and bowler averages have all been updated. It is now up to the other team to confirm that this is a true record of that match. By checking with the information on their match scorecards they are able to do that and confirm by hitting the button labelled 'I confirm this is a true record of the above match'.

Either of the teams involved in the match can input the match result. It is usually the 'Home' team that does it and then the 'Away' team verify's it but it works whichever does it first.

If for any reason the match result is incorrect such as a wrong bowlers name or one of the game scores is incorrect then you need to call the League Secretary (Jeff Jacklin 07968 171 197 or by email on jefftheref2000@yahoo.co.uk) and provide the correct information. Clubs do not have the level of access to Bowlsnet to correct wrong results.

I get phone calls most weeks about such errors, especially at the start of a new season and they usually open with 'Sorry to bother you...' Well let me assure you that it is no bother to me - it is what I am here for. Don't ever think it is only a minor correction so I wont bother phoning it in. It may be only a minor matter in your eyes but if it affects one of your bowler's playing records then it is a big matter to them and if it affects their standing in the Top Bowlers listing then they will soon be letting you know.

The League expects all match results to be input by midnight on the day following the match being played. So a Monday match result should be input on Bowlsnet by midnight on the Tuesday. Then the opposing team has 24 hours from that midnight deadline to verify (or not) the result.

I have to say that the teams have always been very good at getting the initial results in well before the deadline. In fact it is very rare that a result isn't submitted on the day of the match. However verifying is a different story. There are matches still waiting to be verified that stretch back to the opening day of the season (Linthwaite Hall are you listening?). In fact I have counted currently 16 outstanding matches which have passed the Verifying deadline. Is your team one of those with an orange box next to a fixture? I will leave that with you all.
