BCGBA top competitions in disarray

In the words of the BCGBA website the end-of-season Men's and Ladies' Champions-of-Champions weekend is 'the most prestigious event of the British Crown Green calendar. It’s an achievement to simply qualify for the BCGBA Champion of Champions weekend. If you don’t, it’s an amazing watch. The cream of the crop battle it out to be the ultimate Champion of the season'. However this year it doesn't feel like any of that. The BCGBA appears to be in disarray with a last-week panic situation of checking the availability of bowlers and confirming arrangements and very little information being made available from any of the usual sources.

The Men's event was yesterday (Saturday 26 September) and the Ladies version is today at the same venue of Owley Wood and it should have started at 10.00am this morning. Maybe it has, but you will have to look further than the usual sources of information to find anything about either event. The BCGBA's own website contains an incomplete set of qualifiers with only 24 of the 32 qualifying lady bowlers named.

The Men's competition is even worse with only 23 of the qualifying competions carrying the names of the last 32 on the BCGBA website and nothing anywhere else to give us a clue as to the line-up. I understand that there has been a last-week panic situation with the supposedly redundant from 31 August, BCGBA Admin Manager, Jim McGurk, contacting bowlers to confirm their availability

Yet on the BCGBA Facebook pages this morning there is a full set of results from yesterday's mens' competition. I give up!
