On Thursday Eddie Haigh won the Veterans League Over-70s KO for the third time, then on Friday he went out of the Over-80s at the Quarter-Final stage beaten 21-20 by Roy Sutton of Slaithwaite. It didn't look like that was the likely outcome at all especially when Eddie lead 20-16 but Roy was equal to the challenge on a fast green (but not as fast as Lockwood Con had been the previous day). Roy now bowls at Slaithwaite and has lost none of his competitive edge despite dropping down a level this year.

Two-times Champion Frank Greenwood had reached the Quarter-Final stage without playing a match but that all changed this time around. Matched against Milnsbridge bowler Jim Webster, Frank ran out a 21-12 winner and continues in his bid to become the second bowler to lift the trophy three times.

Gordon Walker is a twice-beaten finalist and he remains in the hunt again this season after a 21-17 win over Marsh United bowler Trevor Sykes. In the fourth quarter-final Mike Wood of Brockholes beat Trevor Berry of Hemplow 21-15 to set up a semi-final clash with the reigning Champion.
