Veterans League fees for 2021

Veterans League

Message from the HDVBA Treasurer to all clubs

Club Subscriptions 2021

  1. At the present moment (mid-November) it is likely that the year-end surplus for 2020 will be around £2000.

  2. The HVBA Management Committee has taken the decision to use this surplus to reduce club subscriptions for 2021.

  3. In arriving at the reductions shown below assumptions have had to be made for income/expenditure in 2021 as follows :

  • income from competition entries, raffle receipts, sponsorship (our 2 main sponsors have already committed themselves to 2021) and Yearbook sales and advertisements remain roughly as in 2019

  • expenditure on prize money, insurance, Inter District and Honoraria/Expenses remain roughly as in 2019 with additional expenditure on increased printing costs and a new Veterans website.

  • Generally a cautious view has been taken on both income/expenditure.

  • Based on these assumptions and without any subscriptions the expected deficit for 2021 is expected to be around £5000.

  1. Subscriptions relate to teams not clubs. 2021 team subscriptions need to generate some £3000 (£5000 minus £2000) for the Association to break even in 2021.

  2. As there has been no team competitions in 2020 the entry fees paid in 2020 for these competitions will be forwarded to 2021 - £16 for 10 man teams, £7 for 6 man teams. Because the 2020 Yearbooks became superfluous (other than as a Golden Jubilee souvenir) a Yearbook subsidy will be applied for teams in 2021.

  3. Taking into account the above the Management Committee has agreed a reduction in team subscriptions of:

  • £20 for 10 man teams and £15 for 6 man teams

meaning the following subscriptions will be payable in 2021:

  • £37 per 10 man team and £20 per 6 man team

all of which will include entries to all team competitions, £5 team raffle money and 6 Yearbooks.

Should the number of teams in 2021 remain as in 2019 these subscriptions will generate £3008.

It is imperative that you canvas the opinions of your bowlers and ascertain their availability for next year. Please update the registrations on Bowlsnet and ensure all team intentions are known by Monday 11 January 2021.

Cheques for the highlighted amount should be made payable to Huddersfield Veterans Bowling Association and sent to:

Alan Stephenson

159 Lascelles Hall Road

Kirkheaton

Huddersfield

HD5 0BE

To be paid on or by Monday 15 February 2021.

Can anyone say with certainty that bowling will resume next year as normal. If so, then pay the fees

. If not then perhaps the appropriate organisations ,BCGBA,YCGBA and Leagues should consider extending the date of payment for obvious reasons, Before then I would like to think that the two major bodies do as the Vets League has done and review the amount needed next season . It I’m not holding my breath !!

It is pleasing that the Officials have already agreed to take “substantial cuts” in their honorarium and if it had been mentioned in the Treasure’s statement then it would have been very welcomed by all Clubs at this difficult financial time and particularly so, if the cuts had been used to further reduce the fees for next year..

Indeed, if the “ substantial cuts “ are say, in the region of 50%, then together with the £2,000 surplus the League is forecasting for this year, then the savings could have been £35 for 10 man teams and £20 for 6 man teams , a reduction of 60% for all teams.

I’m sure reductions of this higher amount than proposed (…

If league officials have agreed a reduction in honorarium payments why is there no mention of it in the treasurers lengthy statement sent out to all clubs. I agree that I dont know the circumstances in full and why do you think that is? Because the officials dont tell us anything any more. Another ruddy secret.

in reply to jillrodneys dribble once AGAIN,i think you are totally out of order singleing someone out, when you dont even know the circumstances in full.the four honorable men (as you refer to them), have agreed to take substantial cuts in there honoraria, you are obviously not taking into account the amount of work that has to be carried out preseason setting everything up.

anyway,i dont want to discuss this with you anymore, why dont you do the right thing and submit a letter of complaint to the management committee,as opposed to slagging individuals off, under cover of your user name. at least paw4647,signs himself off by using his name.
