Review of the 10-Man League results in Divisions 1&2 from Tuesday

The Division 1 leaders lose again and the bottom team win again this week and the bottom 6 teams are still only separated by 6 points. A second successive defeat for Lowerhouses, this time away to Elland WMC, has made only a slight dent in their lead but it is down to 16 points as they take their foot off the accelerator. The win for the Elland WMC announces their arrival as a real title threat in their first season in the top division. Just to turn the whole table upside down, bottom team Elland WMC won again, this time away to Cowcliffe to make if four losses on the bounce for them.

A narrow 5-4 away win (Aggregate 129-128) for Golcar Lib A at Lockwood Con puts them level on 93 points with Elland WMC. Clayton West and Longwood are both on 87 points after different results on Tuesday. Longwood won away at Marsh United A 6-3 whilst Clayton West went down 3-6 at Lindley Lib A who really needed the points to steer clear of the relegation places. Kirkheaton Con A and Rastrick remain in that relegation mire after they were involved in a close 5-4 (123-120 aggregate) home win for the Yetton boys.

Almondbury BC A team's surge up the Division 2 table came to an unexpected end on Tuesday when they were beaten at home by lowly Milnsbridge A by 3-6. That halted a run of four straight wins which had elevated them to third place in the table. They hold on to that spot by virtue of a better Aggregate For total but that is only temporary as they have played a match more than their rival, Lindley BC A ,on the same 91-point mark. It is the Lindley team that is emerging as the main threat for the second promotion place but Denby Dale remain resilient with a 7-2 home win over Broad Oak A means they hang on to that precious place for now.

A 6-3 away win for the leaders, Meltham A, over relegation-threatened Almondbury Lib, preserves their 7-point lead for now. That defeat confirms that the Almondbury Lib team are in serious trouble being 13 points adrift of a safe place but still 14 points ahead of Hemplow A who seem doomed to finish the season in bottom spot. In fact they could be the first confirmed relegated team in the 10-Man League as early as next week and that will happen unless they win their next fixture which is away to the leaders, Meltham A, by 9-0!

Netherton Con A continue in freefall with a fifth consecutive defeat, this time going down 1-8 away at Waterloo as they drop into the bottom half of the table. A 6-3 away win for Thongsbridge A over Shepley keeps their hopes alive of joining in the promotion race but they are relying on some pretty big form reversals for that to happen.
