Two shock results in Pairs KO

Two surprise results from the 19 matches played in Thursday's Pairs Knock-Out competition. At Golcar Lib the elimination of the 2019 and 2022 Champions and Clayton West pairing of Tim Poulter and Edwin Haigh by the New Mill duo of Stuart Greaves and Robert Whiteley was unexpected. That match was played at Golcar Lib with the other shock result coming in the ties played at Thongsbridge. That venue saw the Division 5 Dalton pair of David Matthews and Philip Battye see off the Longwood representatives and Inter-District bowlers of Ian Briggs and Andy Wike. The Dalton pair had a nine-point handicap swing but didn't need it as they ran out 21-5 winners.

The day's results have produced the 16 pairs that progress through to the next round to be played on Thursday 9 July on a single green which has still to be confirmed. That in turn will produce the eight pairs that will go on to Finals Day to be played at Almondbury Lib on Thursday 30 July.
