Review of the Divisions 1&2 results for Tuesday 11 August

Lowerhouses continue on their relentless journey to a third successive Division 1 title with their lead stretched to a massive 24 points after their latest win. That was a 9-0 whitewash of Elland C&BC who now sit at the foot of the table. Lindley Lib A produced a very commendable 5-4 home win over Elland WMC which enabled them to retain 2nd place albeit now level on 75-points with Golcar Lib A.

If only Clayton West hadn't lost their first four matches of the season where would they be now? After an 8-1 home win over Cowcliffe they now sit in 4th position just four points behind second-placed Elland WMC. Longwood continued their four-match winning with a 7-2 away win over Rastrick who have dropped right out of contention after only winning one of their last 6 fixtures and dropping down from 2nd place only a few weeks ago to 6th position now.

Kirkheaton Con A lifted themselves off the foot of the table after a 6-3 away win over Lockwood Con A to complete a league double over their opponents. The one outstanding Division 1 fixture between Kirkheaton Con A and Longwood will take place this Friday afternoon.

Netherton Con A lost their third Division 2 match from their last four fixtures to drop out of the promotion places. That was just a second home defeat of the season, this time to a struggling Broad Oak A team by 2-7. That result pushed Shepley and also Almondbury Lib deeper into the relegation mire after they suffered a 9th consecutive defeat. That came about in the Almondbury derby match with the Almondbury BC team coming out on top 7-2. That Shepley defeat came away to leaders Meltham so no disgrace there but a 2-7 scoreline did nothing for their cause.

There were only two home wins in this week's Division 2 programme and one of those came at Milnsbridge where the home team had a good 6-3 win over Thongsbridge A which lifted them clear of the drop zone. Waterloo stay in the top half of the table thanks to a 5-4 away win at Lindley BC A. Denby Dale go second following their 6-3 away win over bottom-of-the-table Hemplow A although a 120-118 aggregate score in the visitors favour shows how close the result was.
