The first jack was rolled and the rain stopped just as the BBC had forecast. Do you believe that? Well it's true. A dry mild December day prevailed and the 2nd Qualifying Round of the 2025-26 Pairs KO was underway this time for Division 7 bowlers. Very conveniently there were eight entries which sits well with a knock-out competition playing down to two qualifiers.

Two rounds of matches sorted things out with a nice break after the first round when the pie 'n' peas went down well with a mug of Bovril (more on that later). These eight bowlers have been playing against each other all season at the Rugby Club every Thursday since the beginning of October.

The current Division 7 table-toppers are Kirkheaton Con B and they had two pairs going for the prize of progressing through to the Round of the Last 20 which will be played on Friday 20 February. Neither made it but not for lack of trying with all three of their matches being decided by one point. All matches are 21-up or 15 ends which ever comes first. In all of the days matches the 15-ends score determined the outcome.
