Winter League
The Winter League would very much like to have a new Division 11 in place for the start of the 2026-27 season. We have 5 teams on our waiting list with two more expressions of interest as we aim for another 8-man Division for the coming season. Past experience tells us that a rush of more applications can be expected the nearer we reach the end of the Summer season. At present we cannot offer them a place in the League only a place on the waiting list with the hope that a new host green will step forward before the start of the season.
Only one thing is stopping us from confirming a season of bowling for another eight teams and that is a green to play on. We have 10 divisions fully provided for with 8 teams in each. With a 14-week league season to start whenever the host club are ready to start and then two more days of cup competitions for each green and an expected minimum cash profit of £3,500, more if you have your own bar on site.
But it is not all about money, although that is usually why host clubs get involved for the first time; there is much more to it than that. It really is a good day out for the bowlers, hosts and spectators. We have a well-proven model that draws the bowlers and spectators to come along week after week to your green and spend money that will all benefit your club.
If you would like to hear more about what is involved then we would be delighted to come and talk to you at your clubhouse and see how good a fit you would be for winter bowling. Get in touch now.
Are you worried about your green? The scaremongers will tell you that bowling on your green all year round damages your green. The evidence from the 6 years of Winter League bowling doesn't back that up. Yes, it will need some extra work during the winter months but that is mainly just cutting the grass. We can bring along a greenkeeper with 6 years experience of all-year-round action on his club's green. You can ask him how he keeps his green looking so good all year round. Is your greenkeeper dreaming of a new mower or some other expensive piece of equipment? Well £4,000+ would go a long way to funding that dream.
Get in touch now and we will arrange to meet you on your green to talk through the options open to you. There is no doubt that the host clubs are the most important members of the Winter League. Without them we don't have a League at all. All the host clubs have a seat and vote on the League's Management Committee to ensure that everything we do is in line with what the host clubs can provide and in their best interests. We want you to make shedloads of money to protect the future of your club and we will work with you to make the best that is possible. With the 6 years experience we have of Winter bowling there is no reason why you shouldn't reap the huge benefits that come with the position.
