Review of the Division 3 matches played at Springwood on Wednesday 22 October

Four 6-2 scorelines in the Division 3 fixture programme this week, with the four winning teams now occupying the top four positions in the table. That also means that Almondbury BC B and Slaithwaite are continuing to set the pace at the top of the table as they beat Lindley BC B and Lockwood Con A respectively. It was noticeable that the two leaders scored 48 and 49 points in their victories whilst Springwood A and Denby Dale both lost their matches yet scored more points (51) than the two leaders. The two points that Denby Dale collected saw them overcome their 10-points penalty and they move into positive figures from here on.

Thorpe Green C were the top scorers of the day when collecting 61 points from their 6-2 win over Denby Dale. They appear to have taken personally my forecast that they will finish bottom of the Division 3 table this season. I know how to motivate a team! A good win over the proven Denby Dale team at this level shows a marked improvement on last year when they lost 2-6 to the same opponents twice. Lindley Lib B were the other top four winning team as they saw off their hosts from Springwood A by the 6-2 scoreline which prevailed in all four of the Division 3 fixtures on Wednesday.

The matches started in a heavy rainfall but the day finished in great sunshine as can be seen by these photographs shared by Bob Haigh.
