Winter League
Three teams with 100% win records and three teams with 14 points sharing top spot in the Division 5 table after two weeks of the 14-week season at Netherton Con.
The matchday morning rain gave way to a dry day with sporadic sunshine spells to enable the 8 teams to enjoy their matches at a much warmer, drier and welcoming Netherton Con green than had been their introduction to winter bowling the previous Thursday. Again the green was in pristine condition without the threat of becoming waterlogged as the clouds cleared and coats were discarded as matches began.
All three of the early leaders look like strong teams backed up by the early results with Thorpe Green leading the way due to the bigger 'Aggregate For' total which is used to separate teams on the same number of points. A 6-2 win over the Rugby Club being their latest win to consolidate their hold on the number one place. The Milnsbridge 'C' team includes a couple of regular bowlers from their 'A' team of last year who were relegated from Division 1 making them a strong fancy for being involved at the top end of the table all season long. An internal reshuffle of bowlers enabled the club to enter a third team in the league this season, meaning our first three host green clubs all have three teams in the league.
Netherton Con 'B' being the third member of the breakaway threesome and they used local knowledge to a full advantage in an emphatic 8-0 win over Springwood 'C'.
