All 14 Section 1 teams went into the hat for the opening round of the Team Knock-Out competition but only 6 of those will appear in Round 2. From that original list two withdrew (Rastrick and Elland C&BC 'A'); two (Lindley Lib 'A' and Thongsbridge 'A') were beaten by fellow Section 1 teams with four eliminated by Section 2 teams.
The surprise results all happened in the bottom half of the draw with Shepley beating Netherton Con 'A' by 142-132; Crosland Moor going out to Section 2 leaders Kirkheaton Con 'A' by 105-153; New Mill 'A' defeating Marsh United 'A' 142-131 and then Almondbury BC 'A' seeing off Waterloo by 142-120.
That set of results sees Longwood as the sole Section 1 representative left in the bottom half of the draw so leaving them a clear path to the Final. Leaving 5 Section 1 teams in the top half to resolve between themselves the favourite to be the other finalist those being Cowcliffe, Lockwood Con 'A', Golcar Lib 'A', Clayton West and Meltham 'A'.
In total there are nine Section 2 teams still in contention with Brockholes 'B' being the only remaining Section 3 side left in the competition being given an uncontested pass to Round 2 after Elland withdrew.
