Top teams aiming to end JFT losing run

Veterans League

An all-Division 1 semi-final line-up is possible in the Julie Fuller Trophy as the five teams from the top division are spread over the four quarter-final ties. But this is the Julie Fuller Trophy competition which has not been won by a Division 1 team since 2017.

Recent Winners

2022 - Clayton West (Division 2) beat Lockwood Con (Division 1) 66-41 2021 - Slaithwaite (Division 3) beat Marsh United (Division 3) 78-54 2020 - no competition 2019 - Longwood (Division 2) beat Marsden Park (Division 3) 75-44 2018 - Lindley Lib (Division 2) beat Clayton West (Division 1) 73-50

2017 - Longwood (Division 1) beat Clayton West (Division 1) 63-26

The 2023 Julie Fuller Trophy competition has reached the Quarter-Finals stage with all 8 contenders coming from the top two divisions. However, that could still unveil a couple of surprise results as Golcar C&BC, from Division 1, have to give a start of 8 points to the Division 2 leaders Slaithwaite. They have to recover those 8 points over the three pairs games which is the Julie Fuller format, no easy target as Slaithwaite have only lost one match all season.

Netherton Con are a Division 1 mid-table team with just one win in their last 6 fixtures and giving an 8-point start to Milnsbridge 'B' which is not a prospect they will relish. The Shepley 'A' v Thongsbridge 'A' meeting sees two teams who probably look on this competition as their only hope of winning something this season so both will be intent on making their best shot on Friday.

An all-Division 1 semi-final line-up is possible and it will be a surprise if the leaders, Marsh United 'A', are not among them having to give a handicap start of only 2 points over Division 2 mid-table team Holmfirth 'A'. But then again this is the Julie Fuller Trophy competition which has not been won by a Division 1 team since 2017.
