Top Section C teams clash this week

League News

Attention focuses on Section C this week where the top two are separated by a single point, both have unbeaten records and they meet at Almondbury Lib where the leaders, Holmfirth 'B', are the visitors. Whoever wins may not be in top spot after this round of fixtures as sat in third place is Slaithwaite, again with an unbeaten record, one point off the top and a game in hand over the top two. They are at home to Brockholes 'B' who have one win from their first 4 matches and they are one of a group of five teams within 2 points of each other at the foot of the table. Holmfirth 'A' and Hemplow are also in that group and they go head to head as well this week so things could be changing at both ends of the table.

Thongsbridge 'B' are the close encounters specialist in Section A with the results of 3 of their 4 matches decided by the aggregate scores which have never had more than 2 points between them. That may be a good outcome for them this coming week as they travel to play the leaders, Shepley 'A' on their own turf. Reigning Champions, Netherton Con, are 2nd in the table and they will be looking to narrow the 3-point gap to the leaders when they play at Paddock I&C who are still looking for their first win of the season.

Curiously each of the 3 sections have the same 14 point gap between the top and bottom teams but Section B leaders Golcar Lib will be keen to extend that difference when they travel to meet second from bottom Meltham this week. Meltham for their part will want to get themselves out of the relegation places and where better place to start than at home. The two teams on either side of them - Skel Windmill 'A' and Primrose Hill Lib - meet up so at least one team is going to gain some points this week. Second-placed Marsh United are 3 points and 3 places better off than their opponents this week, Golcar C&BC, but they have played a game more than them so everything to play for although Golcar C&BC have the home advantage. Honley Con are in 3rd place and Skel Windmill 'B' fourth and they meet up on the Lowerhouses green this week with the home side having a game in hand over the two teams above them and keen to reduce the 4 point gap to the top.

So lots of team battles lined up for the coming week, the sun is going to shine and this is why we do what we do. Gentlemen enjoy your bowling.
