Preview of the Tuesday fixtures in Divisions 3,4&5 of the Veterans 10-Man League

There is a top versus bottom clash in this Tuesday's Division 3 fixture programme as the leaders, Golcar Lib B, travel to play bottom of the pile Springwood. New Mill will be looking to take advantage of any slipups by the leaders as they are level on points with them and have a home match this week against third-from-bottom Paddock I&C.

Skel Windmill came up as Division 4 Champions last season but haven't set the world alight so far this season and sit second to bottom at present. A home match this week against Brockholes A may suit them fine. Brockholes A are one of four teams with unbeaten records to date, the others being the top two along with Lindley Lib B.

Four teams are hoping to clock up their first wins of the season and with two of them having home fixtures they would have the strongest cases. Those being Thorpe Green (versus Lindley Lib B) and Slaithwaite (who play Kirkheaton C&BC A).

The top two teams in Division 4 are Kirkheaton Con B and Huddersfield Recreation Club and they have a head-to-head encounter this week. Brockholes B could profit from the top two being otherwise engaged as they have home advantage over bottom-of-the-table Lockwood Con B.

There is a Marsh local derby as well this week to look forward to, as Marsh United B entertain Marsh Lib A. The fact that both teams are just above the relegation places should add an edge to the meeting.

Division 5 looks like being a well-contested competition this season, with only one of the 12 teams having an unbeaten record after just two matches. That is Broad Oak B who have a four-points gap lead over a chasing pack of four teams who are all on 10-points. They all avoid each other this week. All those four have away fixtures this week so that will provide an interesting situation and tell us more about their potential.
