Winter League
Each year the Winter League recognises the efforts by all bowlers put into the weekly action by presenting trophies to the top bowlers in each division upon completion of the season-long fixture programme.
There is one perpetual trophy for the top bowler in each division. This is all calculated based on certain criteria. The running order of the bowlers is determined by these factors:
Bowlers must have played in a minimum of 9 of the 14 fixtures (60%) over the course of the season
Then the running order depends on the most games won
Then by the best Average Difference score
Each bowler's scores in Singles and Pairs matches will be combined
We are still hoping to attract sponsorship for the Top Bowler and Division Champions awards for the new Divisions 9 and 10. More details about what this involves.
The Division 10 positions are complicated by three teams withdrawing from the League at the halfway point of the season. Those team playing records being taken over by three new teams. All this means that the bowlers in those six teams will not meet the minimum 9 matches to be played to qualify for the end-of-season award. This means that the Top Bowler can only come from the remaining five teams which devalues the competition. The Management Committee will determine if the Top Bowler award will still be awarded in Division 10 this year.
I have excluded the Division 10 situation as Bowlsnet continues to recognise the records of bowlers from teams no longer in the League. This just confuses the situation at present.
Below is the current standing in Divisions 6 to 9.
I aimed to include the top 10 bowlers in each division but where this took the totals past 10 bowlers I halted the number to make it more meaningful.
You can always look at the full records at any time on the League's Bowlsnet records. Click on the above link then click on AVERAGES from the top border menu. Then click on SINGLES from the top border menu
Then select OVERALL (combined)
