6-Man League Weekly Preview

After a week off for Julie Fuller Trophy matches the 6-Man League returns to the League programme this Monday with a key week of matches in the top two divisions. In Section A the top four confront each other with the top three teams all having the same 8-2 win record this term. Leaders Shepley 'A' have to travel to play 4th placed Brockholes 'A' which may well be the Badger's last chance to announce themselves in the title chase or not. Thirteen points behind top spot they really need to be making inroads into that deficit and what better time is there to start than against the leaders and when the 2nd and 3rd placed teams have to face each other. That sees Netherton Con at home to Thongsbridge 'B' as all top four sides start to feel the impact of the 14-match rule which is going to deprive all of them of some team members for the rest of the season. Relegation issues are still very much to the forefront as well with just 4 points between the bottom four teams and two of those confront each other this Monday when bottom team Oakfield have home advantage over fourth from bottom Lindley Lib.

The top two teams in Section B meet this week with second-placed Golcar C&BC having home advantage and 5 points to pull back from leaders Honley Con. When Meltham and Marsh United meet on Monday both teams will realise that this is a real opportunity for the winner to put any lingering thoughts of relegation behind them so adding to the importance of the fixture. Marsh go into the fixture with the better recent form having won 2 of their last 3 league games as well as qualifying for the knock-out phase of the Julie Fuller Trophy.

Section C leaders Slaithwaite have the week off, safe in the knowledge that regardless of what happens in this week's fixtures that they will still sit top of the pile come Wednesday evening. A 13-point lead guarantees that even though second-placed Holmfirth'A' are at bottom of the table Shepley 'B' and will be aiming to narrow that lead. Almondbury Lib are poised to take any advantage to be gained by a slip on Holmfirth's part as they have a home encounter with lowly Brockholes 'B' although not in the best of form having dropped out of the promotion places after losing their last three matches although all three were played away from home.

HuddWeb is now providing weekly postings covering the Matchday Preview and Results Round-Up for 5 local bowling leagues - the Mirfield League, Ladies Works League, Veterans 10-Man League, Veterans 6-Man League and the Huddersfield Winter League. Trying to fill the gap left by The Examiner.
