Veteran's 6-Man League Weekly Preview
The top two teams in Section A go head-to-head tomorrow and with just 3 points between them the outcome could be crucial to the destination of the 2021 Championship title. Shepley 'A' are currently top and have home advantage over second-placed and reigning Champions Netherton Con. The leaders will be keen to bounce back from last week's 5-2 defeat away at third-placed Thongsbridge 'B' who are now just one point behind Netherton Con. As they are away at bottom of the table Oakfield T&BC this Monday it is feasible that they could end the day in top spot if results all go their way. With just one defeat in their last 9 matches Netherton Con are in good form although Thongsbridge 'B' have an identical Won-8 Lost-1 record from their last 9 matches as well. Paddock I&C and Lindley Lib are competing for the safety of the third from bottom place with just 2 points separating them when they meet up this week at Lindley Lib.
The top two teams in Section B, Honley Con and Golcar C&BC, are locked together on 56 points and they have home matches this Monday against the bottom two teams, Golcar Lib and Primrose Hill Lib respectively. Clayton West will look to better Golcar Lib's result when they take on third-placed Skel Windmill 'B' as they have just a 3-point safety gap above the drop zone but home advantage should help them this week as they have only lost once at home all season.
Slaithwaite fresh fromn their Julie Fuller Trophy success could add the Section C title to that this Monday if all the results go right for them. Currently with a 15-point lead at the top and with a home game against bottom of the table Shepley 'B' the two persuers need to match the leaders scoreline in their games this week. Failure to do so could clinch a second honour in 4 days for the new boys from Slaithwaite. Almondbury Lib could be the first to be shaken off having played a match more than the other two contenders and playing away this week. Holmfirth 'A' could hang around a little longer but it seems inevitable that Slaithwaite will go on to complete a Section and KO Trophy double.
