Three 100% records in Division 3 to stay intact

Veterans League Preview of the Divisions 3,4 & 5 fixtures on 9 May

The top three teams in Division 3 all have 100% win records and that could continue for another week as they avoid playing each other in this week's programme. Denby Dale are the leaders by 4 points but they are the only one of the top three to be playing away this Tuesday and Paddock I&C is never an easy place to go when you need the points.

Second-placed Almondbury Lib entertain Slaithwaite who ominously could only field 8 men for last week's fixture whilst third-placed Brockholes 'A' have a more difficult looking encounter when they host fourth-placed Golcar Lib 'B'.

Life certainly doesn't get any easier for the bottom three teams as after home defeats for all three last week they all face difficult away matches this Tuesday. Bottom of the table Meltham 'B' are at Outlane who beat them 6-3 last season when this was a Division 4 fixture. Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' are at Huddersfield Recreation Club who will be pleased to be playing at home for only the second time this season. Leaving Lockwood Con 'B' to challenge Skel Windmill's unbeaten home record.

Springwood continue to set the pace at the top of the Division 4 table and have opened up a 5 point gap, no team in any division has a greater lead at present. This week they go to bottom-of-the-table Primrose Hill Lib looking to extend that unbeaten record whilst the Pip Hill team playing at home for only the second time will be looking to pick up their second win of the season.

The 2nd and 3rd placed teams meet at Kirkheaton Con where the 'B' side meet Lindley Lib 'B' with one point between the two teams. Fourth-placed Huddersfield RUBC have a game in hand over the three teams above them and with home advantage this week as Ravensknowle Park come to visit. The Park team are one of three teams just above Primrose Hill Lib with one point between them, Lindley BC 'B' also being one of that trio but they are idle this week leaving Marsh United 'B' with the opportunity to reverse places but there won't be any easy pickings for them away at Thongsbridge 'B'. Almondbury BC 'B' and Marsh Lib are locked together on 16 points each in mid-table and they go head-to-head this Tuesday to sort out the mid-table pecking order.

Division 5 leaders Broad Oak 'B' have the week off and will expect to lose the top spot as second-placed and unbeaten Milnsbridge 'B' have home advantage over visitors Hemplow 'B' where the 3-point gap may well be breached. The bottom two teams meet up with Kirkheaton C&BC 'B' hosting Holmfirth 'B' and with just one point between them, there is a lot at stake.

Dalton are the Fantasy League Division 5 favourites but they have under-achieved to date and will be looking to correct that hesitant start to their campaign when Netherton Con 'B' come to visit this Tuesday. David Brown Sports could be the surprise package this season as they are well placed to mount a bid to join the promotion set-to and this Tuesday have a home encounter with New Mill 'B'. That may not be as straightforward as the league table may suggest as they beat Dalton 8-1 in their last away match but have lost their other three fixtures, two of them by the whitewash 0-9 scoreline so it depends on which team turns up on the day.
