Veterans League
It is Round 2 of the 10-Man League's Team KO competition today as the holders, Lockwood Con 'A' try for a third consecutive title when they take on Hemplow 'A' on the Holmfirth Green this afternoon. The Hemplow side had a tremendous Round 1 success when beating Division 1 high-fliers Cowcliffe 129-127.
There are two all-Division 1 clashes as Clayton West meet Marsh United 'A' and Longwood take on Waterloo. If you are looking for potential upsets any of the remaining 6 ties offer such opportunities with Golcar Lib having both their teams in the last 16, one could be on each end of a surprise result with handicaps in play.
Teams are handicapped based on their final 2021 league positions and the match format of 4 Singles and 3 Pairs is the same as for league matches. The only difference being that the scoring system is based on the total team aggregates only and in the event of a drawn match then the team with the most winners will pass through to the next round.
The eight teams that progress will play their Round 3 matches on Thursday 14 July as the competition ups its pace as we move into the later stages.
