Review of the results from the 6-Man League fixtures on Monday 17 April
Last week there was six whitewash 7-0 scorelines in the 6-Man League fixture programme, this week there isn't one as teams tighten up their game. Division 1 Champions, Shepley 'A', were among that pack of six but this week they had to settle for a 5-2 away win at Lockwood Con to retain a share in the leadership battle. They are joined by a Marsh United 'A' side that won 6-1 for a second week this time away at Lockwood Con and just one aggregate point (198-197) protects Shepley from the rampant Marsh United team.
Netherton Con remain very much in the title mix after they clocked up a second 5-2 win this time against a strongly fancied Golcar C&BC team who drop to fourth spot as a result. Brockholes 'A' bounced back from their opening day 2-5 loss at home to Netherton Con when beating Elland C&BC on their own green by that same 5-2 scoreline.
Milnsbridge 'A' recovered from their opening day whitewash defeat to beat Skel Windmill 'A' 4-3 courtesy of a better aggregate total (92-88) whilst Crosland Moor took to the green for the first time this season and clocked up a big 6-1 home win over Thongsbridge 'A'.
In Division 2 Paddock I&C failed to attract support from any of the 77 entrants in the Fantasy League but regardless of that they clocked up a second consecutive 6-1 win when winning away at Almondbury Lib. That puts them second in the table behind Golcar Lib 'B' who had a 5-2 away win at Skel Windmill 'B'. Things are very tight at the top of this table with 2 points separating the top four who are all unbeaten.
Clayton West and Slaithwaite are very much in the promotion mix after both recorded good wins this week. Clayton West 4-3 victors away at Holmfirth 'B' and Slaithwaite 6-1 at home over Linthwaite Hall. The two Lindley Lib teams sit level on 9 points each in mid-table after the 'B' side took the honours with a 6-1 away win at Denby Dale. Whereas the 'A' team were surprisingly beaten 2-5 at home by Milnsbridge 'B' for their first success of the new season.
Greenhead Park continued their good start to their Division 3 season by winning 5-2 away at Hemplow to stay top although Marsh Lib join them in an early two-team breakaway group after a 6-1 away win at Brockholes 'B'. The top two have opened up a 3-point gap to two teams locked together on the same points and Aggregate For (172) totals. Those teams being Thongsbridge 'B' and Meltham who played each other on Monday with the Thongsbridge home team coming out on top 6-1.
The Marsh United 'B' team matched their 'A' team's 6-1 success when overcoming New Mill and joining them in mid-table on the same points total. Primrose Hill Lib completed the day's programme with a 5-2 away win at Shepley 'B' for a first win of the season and a comfortable mid-table position.
There is a Friday afternoon match this week when Thongsbridge 'C' host Holmfirth 'B' with both teams having won their opening fixtures the outcome could see the winners climb into top spot in a revised table.
