Sub-Team KO round-up

Veterans League

This Tuesday the usual fixture programme is put to one side for the majority of teams in Divisions 3, 4 and 5 of the 10-Man League as they are involved in the Preliminary Round of the Sub-Team Knock-Out. The 12 winning teams plus 4 teams with byes will progress through to Round 1 which will be played a week later on the following Tuesday. The draws for both the opening rounds are below.

The top 32 teams to finish the previous season in the League are automatically entered into the Team KO. All the other 28 teams go into the Sub-Team KO with the format exactly the same as for League matches - four Singles and three Pairs - but with the aggregate total deciding the winner. Should the aggregate scores be level then the team with the most wins in that tie will progress through to the next round. Handicaps are in play right through the competition.

Linthwaite Hall are the holders of this title which was part of their double last year when they also lifted the Division 3 Championship title but as they finished the season in the top 32 teams in the Veterans League they have moved up to the Team KO this year.

There are two Scratch teams in the competition and they are kept apart. Paddock I&C who are 4th in Division 3 being one of the scratch pair and they have an interesting meeting with 2nd in Division 4, Marsh United 'B'. The other Scratch side being Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' from Division 3 who have to take on the Division 4 leaders Lindley Lib 'B'.

Division 5 mid-table team Dalton have to take on Division 4 high-riders Springwood and if that isn't enough of a challenge they have to do that on a 'neutral' green that Springwood played a league match on 2 weeks ago.
