The forecast high winds coming with Storm Dudley to England over the next 48 hours are causing some concerns about bowler safety in the scheduled Division 2 fixtures on Wednesday at Springwood.
The forecast currently indicates that very strong winds of up to 50mph are expected by the match start time of 12noon to be compounded with rain coming along an hour later.
There are no concerns about the green which remains in good order but this is all about bowler safety bearing in mind the surrounds at Springwood have a lot of varied step terracing. The green is open to the elements with the wide open access that winds drive through. We wouldn't want any accident to happen to anyone due to the combination of high winds and terracing. Remember as well that we are all pensioners playing in this competition and our balance is not always as good as it used to be.
It has been decided to wait until Wednesday morning to finalise the decision and that will be communicated to all involved clubs by 9.30am on Wednesday morning. The decision will also be added to this website by the same time. As things stand at present the expectation is that the matches will be postponed until next Monday but if things don't turn out as bad as forecast then that outcome may not materialise.
