Still neck and neck at top of Division 1 table

Veterans League

Review of the 6-Man League fixtures played on Monday 5 June

The top two teams in Division 1 of the 6-Man League both won their fixtures this week by the same 5-2 scoreline so remain locked together on the same point total. However their previous one-point lead over third-placed Brockholes 'A' has been extended to four points after the Badgers lost their away match at Lockwood Con. The Marsh United side had a 5-2 home win over Skel Windmill 'A' to stay ahead on a better 'Aggregate For total over Netherton Con who, despite winning for the 6th consecutive week, remain just behind the leaders.

Big 6-1 home wins for Shepley 'A' and Golcar C&BC kept them both very much in the title race. Shepley's win over Elland C&BC ensured that the Elland side are still seeking their first win of the season whilst Golcar C&BC beat Thongsbridge 'A' who they pass in the table and now sit in 6th place. At the start of the day Longwood and Lockwood Con were the bottom two teams and both were looking for their first wins of the season. Both achieved that aim but only Lockwood Con escape the relegation places putting Elland C&BC back in trouble and still seeking their first win of the season.

Paddock I&C extended their winning start to their Division 2 season with a 6-1 home win over Milnsbridge 'B' and make that 6 wins on the bounce which translates into a 3-points lead at the top of the table. Lindley Lib 'A' stay second but a point further behind the leaders after a 5-2 away win at Skel Windmill 'B'. With 6-1 wins for Slaithwaite, Clayton West and Golcar Lib keeps them all within striking distance and very much part of the promotion story.

The bottom five teams all lost their matches this week meaning minimal changes at the foot of the table. However a second successive 1-6 loss for Almondbury Lib saw them swap places with Skel Windmill 'B' with both teams just a point away from the second relegation place.

The Marsh derby match saw a complete switch around in positions at the top of the Division 3 table. Marsh Lib won the match 7-0 which elevated them to the top spot replacing Marsh United 'B' who dropped to third place and are now level on points with two more teams. Thongsbridge 'C' split the two teams after a 6-1 home win over Shepley 'B' last Friday and Holmfirth 'B' saw off Meltham by 5-2 to pitch themselves right in the middle of the push for the promotion places.

Big away wins for New Mill (7-0 away at Brockholes 'B') and Primrose Hill Lib surprisingly beating Greenhead Park on their own green 6-1 sees five teams separated by 2 points with potential to go either up or down depending on their next results. Thongsbridge 'B' also feature in that quintet of teams after a 5-2 home win over Hemplow which included a 93-92 aggregate scoreline.
