Winter League

Springwood and Milnsbridge have now both confirmed that their Winter League matches scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) will be going ahead as planned.
Springwood, the home green of Division 2 bowling, is confident that the full Wednesday programme of fixtures will go ahead this week. It would take a heavy snowful for them to change their minds but everything is on course for a full day of completed matches. The green is likely to be similar to that experienced at Thorpe Green on Monday with a light white topping which will slow woods down but the frozen ground will counter that.
There is more concern about the tiers and steps around the green being slippery and so the intention is to erect some barriers to deter people from using the worst areas and other parts will be salted to ensure that everyone stays safe.
Milnsbridge have also confirmed that the Division 1 fixture programme scheduled for Wednesday will also be going ahead as planned. It is probably going to be cold but that is winter bowling for you so wrap up well, bring some loose change for the hot food and beverages and enjoy meeting like-minded individuals as you wander around the green.
John Pix, you had better get a big batch of soup cooking.
