Review of league fixtures played on 6 September

Slaithwaite are promoted out of Section C and depending on the Holmfirth 'A' result which remains outstanding as this report is produced, could be going up as confirmed Champions. If the Holmfirth side have failed to score at least 3 points from this weeks match against Brockholes 'B' then Slaithwaite can also celebrate their title success. If not this week then surely next week will be sufficient for them to stack up the few points that will confirm their success. Almondbury Lib sit second and retain an interest in the second promotion place after a 6-1 away win at Thongsbridge 'A' this week but can no longer overtake the leaders. Section C saw all the biggest scores of the week recorded as all 3 match results currently in saw the winners in the 100 Club. The Slaithwaite result being the most notable with single-figure wins over all their 5 game opponents.

Shepley maintained their 3-pont lead at the top of Section A after the latest round of fixtures. They saw off the challenge from one of their strongest opponents when beating Netherton Con by 5-2 but a 6-1 away win for Thongsbridge 'B' at bottom team, Oakfield

T&BC, enabled them to move into second place and take closer order on the leaders. Milnsbridge's 5-2 away win at Brockholes 'A' enabled them to retain a distant interest in the title race and with matches coming up against the top two teams they are clearly going to have a huge influence on the destination of the 2021 Championship title. At the other end of the table Paddock I&C went down 3-4 (90-92 aggregate) away at Lindley Lib to stay rooted in the second relegation spot and 4 points from safety.

The top two teams in Section B had home matches against the bottom two teams and the predictable outcome was realised as both teams clocked up 6-1 wins. That means that they remain locked together on

62 points and both look booked in for promotion but which way will the title swing go next. Those defeats for the bottom two, Golcar Lib and Primrose Hill Lib, coupled with a good 6-1 home victory for Clayton West over Skel Windmill 'B', left them firmly routed in the relegation places with time running out and both have matches against a top two opponent in their remaining fixtures.
