Shock welcome to Division 2 for Almondbury team

Winter League

A review of the matches played at Springwood on Wednesday 27 October

New team Almondbury BC played their first Winter League match this week after a first-week bye and were overwhelmed by a rampant and revitalised Meltham quartet. A tough introduction but probably not typical of the level of bowling then can expect in the League this year as Meltham seems to be one of the stronger teams in Division 2. That win for them made it two 8-0 wins from their opening two matches but they only head the table on a better 'Aggregate For' total over Springwood 'A' who have also opened the season brightly. Their latest win being over Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' although a 63-52 scoreline hides the closeness of two of those games and means that the Recreation Club are still looking for their first point of the season.

Jackson Bridge and Lindley Lib both retained their unbeaten records when drawing 4-4 this week with just one point separating them in the aggregate battle (56-55) after Jackson Bridge took the game score 2-1. That was the first drawn match in Division 2 this season. Denby Dale bounced back from an opening day whitewash defeat when overcoming Thorpe Green 'B' 6-2 to kick-start their season.
