One Section C result still to be uploaded to Bowlsnet but the 12 match results on Bowlsnet show that there were 6 home wins and 6 away wins this week. Shepley 'A' lost their unbeaten Section A record this week when eventually going down 3-4 at Netherton Con as the reigning Champions hampered their visitor's charge to this season's ultimate reward. Despite that result Shepley remain comfortably aloof and clear by 5 points from Brockholes 'A' who slipped up at Milnsbridge where a 5-2 scoreline steered the home side to a menacing fourth place and a third consecutive win. A good 5-2 away win for bottom team Lindley Lib raised their hopes of avoiding relegation and brought Paddock I&C right into the dropzone mix which also includes Oakfield after they lost 1-6 away at Thongsbridge 'B'.
In the build-up to this week's fixtures I previewed the Section B match where the two top teams were level on points and going head-to-head. I highlighted a potential situation where the losers could, if results went against them, drop from top to 5th position and that is exactly what happened. Honley Con went on the rampage and overwhelmed Golcar Lib 7-0 who drop to fifth as a result. Honley Con have opened up a 3 point lead at the top from Golcar C&BC who had a 5-2 away win at bottom team Primrose Hill Lib. The two Skel Windmill teams both won 5-2 and both pass the freefalling Golcar Lib side to take over 3rd and 4th places in alphabetic order.
One missing result from Section C and that is previous leaders Almondbury Lib who are 5 points behind Slaithwaite with both teams still unbeaten. However, that will change next week when the two teams go toe-to-toe to see who is going to lead the way as we approach the halfway point of the season. Marsh Lib had a great 6-1 home win over Hemplow and that moved them off the foot of the table and past 3 teams to go to 6th position. Yet there are still only 2 points between the bottom 4 teams as they having their own mini-competition.
