Review of the Division 6 matches played on Thursday 19 December at Netherton Con

Blue skies, bright sunshine, long shadows and bowling all go together to make a wonderful Christmas prelude to the season of goodwill which abounds all winter long in our competition. However there has to be winners and losers and the pre-Christams fixture programme is no different when serving up that outcome once again this week in the Division 6 programme at Netherton Con.

Outlane had a surprise 6-2 win over Mirfield A which damaged the Mirfield team's aspirations towards promotion. This was their only defeat since the opening day of the season but they hang on to the second promotion place for now with an 8-points cushion over Brockholes B. The Brockholes team beat strugglers Netherton Con B 6-2 to close in on a chance to become more heavily involved in the promotion race. Those two points for the Netherton team enabled them to move out of the relegation places but only on a better 'Aggregate For' total than Huddersfield Recreation Club B.

The battle to stay out of the relegation places hots up with New Mill C firmly at the foot of the table without a win all season but still only 8 points off safety. A 0-8 outcome from their Thursday match against Springwood B didn't help their cause but they will not give up hope whilst there are two teams within their range. The leaders, Almondbury BC B, continue their seemingly relentless journey to the Division 6 title which a season-long unbeaten record would surely deliver.
