Rose Bowl Round 2

Veterans League

The top individual competition in the Veterans 10-Man League season is the Rose Bowl or as it was originally known as, The Examiner Rose Bowl following the sponsorship of the original trophy in 1970. Following the passing of Peter Muff in March 2022 he made a bequest in his will donating 1/50th of his estate to five different Huddersfield bowling leagues. That equated to £7,000 to each of those leagues and the Veterans League noted that generous gesture by renaming the Rose Bowl after Peter and his wife, Judith, which is now referred to as The Peter & Judith Muff Rose Bowl.

There were 41 entries for the opening round of the 2026 competition played at two greens on the same day two weeks ago. Eight qualifiers from each of those days move into Round 2 to be played at Slaithwaite tomorrow from 1.30pm. There are just two All-Division 1 clashes in the Round of the Last 16 and they are: Jeff Jacklin (Kirkheaton Con) v Tim Poulter (Clayton West) Andy Lumb (Kirkheaton Con) v Graham Sigsworth (Cowcliffe)

There is guaranteed to be a new name on the trophy as no former winners have made it into the Last 16. The full draw is below and each bowler will play one match on the day with the eight winners progressing through to Finals Day to be played at Holmfirth on Thursday 10 September.
